Hinge Floor Screen

"Designed to belong."
Design by: Eddie Gustafsson

Born from the creative mind of Eddie Gustafsson, a long‑time force within the Abstracta universe, Hinge is designed to belong — today, tomorrow, and wherever work continues to evolve. Built for environments that never stand still, it delivers acoustic comfort through a design that remains relevant, beautiful, and adaptable long into the future, all while maintaining a sense of calm and clarity.

Slim in profile, modern in expression, and thoughtful in every detail, Hinge brings intention to the workplace without demanding attention in return — a complete acoustic screen system defined by confident understatement.

  • The Hinge Floor Screen comes in single, double or triple configurations and as a floor screen booth for desks that can be configured either as a U or as a Z. All floor screens ar available with castors.

  • Built around an acoustic lightweight board, the design combines two ultra‑thin 2 mm MDF sheets separated by an air gap. The result is a light, stable acoustic core that achieves good sound‑absorbing performance with minimal material consumption.

  • The hidden "hinge" mechanism is the detail that makes Hinge work — both literally and as a design idea. Panels that open like a book, creating corners that are tight, clean and precise. No gaps, no guesswork. Just a simple mechanism that does its job with confidence.

  • A zip‑on fabric cover filled with 400 g of polyester gives Hinge a simple, durable construction that is easy to refresh or upgrade whenever needed, extending the product’s lifespan while reducing waste. The cover is offered in a selection of high‑quality textiles, including Gabriel Renewed Loop Screen for a certified recycled option.

Eddie Gustafsson

Rooted in the craft traditions of Småland, Eddie Gustafsson approaches design by starting with the problem, not the sketch. His experience in prototyping and product development gives him a grounded, hands‑on way of working. His years at Lammhults Design Group have shaped a deep understanding of Scandinavian furniture production — clearly visible in Hinge, a product built on one smart idea, executed with clarity, precision, and purpose.
