Poul Christiansen

Born in 1947 and educated as an architect at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Poul Christiansen made his breakthrough in the late sixties when he began working on his iconic lamp series for Le Klint.

Since 1987, he has co-directed Komplot Design in Copenhagen with Boris Berlin. The multi-disciplinary design studio regards design as a link that emerges from the tension between opposites, such as reason and feeling, tradition and innovation. Accordingly, the purpose of design is significantly greater than simply solving discrete functional problems: “It’s about creating subtexts that fill concepts and objects with cultural, philosophical and poetic content.”
