For Jesper Ståhl, designing is partly a case of satisfying consumer needs and partly a case of reflecting the values of a trademark. When this is applied to furniture, it’s naturally the personality and expression of the designer that are important aspects. This meeting of thoughts creates products that are unique, timeless and direct in their design and have a high level of functionality. Products that are suitable can be suitable in many different environments. Tomorrow’s products will need to function in an entirety where different materials, old and new, are combined under new demands for ecological and environmental thinking. We can be sure that nature will become an even greater source of inspiration, says Jesper. That’s also how my models work, multilateral and playful! Jesper Ståhl has received many distinctions over the years; the ID Design Review for his drum set Drum Revolution, the Swedish Casting Industry’s first prize for illumination series Liverti, winner of Core Design with knife series Virtuoso, Design Management prize for work with Scandinavian Photo, the Department of Culture’s prize “Designstafetten” 2007, etc.
Masters of Design from Royal College of Art in London.
