New York-based designer Andrea Ruggiero grew up in Italy, China and Austria. He studied at the Domus Academy in Milan and later at the Parsons School of Design in New York, where he currently teaches.
His work as a designer encompasses both products and furniture, as well as visual identities and packaging. He has received a number prizes for his works, including Interior Design’s Best of Year award, multiple Good Design awards and a D&AD award.
Sustainability and consumption related issues are of central concern to Ruggiero. Along with Bengt Brummer, he designed a highly acclaimed picnic plate made of seeds, which becomes a meal for the birds once one has finished one’s own.
